Our work
Founded in 1985, Youth Singers of Calgary (YSC) is one of Calgary’s largest not-for-profit, volunteer-based performing arts organizations, serving young people through high-quality instruction in singing, dance, and performance. For forty years, YSC has supported thousands of young people in developing leadership, teamwork, perseverance, self-confidence, and a strong sense of belonging through participation in the performing arts.
YSC owns and operates the ATCO Performing Arts Centre, a vital community asset that provides affordable, purpose-built instructional studios and rehearsal space to youth, educators, and community arts organizations from across Calgary and Alberta. Since 2021, YSC has significantly expanded its community impact through in-school residencies, partnerships with Campus Calgary, and professional development opportunities for educators, responding directly to growing demand for accessible arts education.
To celebrate our 40th Anniversary and launch us into our next chapter, YSC aims to secure the vibrancy of our home, the ATCO Performing Arts Centre, to celebrate our legacy and ensure long-term sustainability. To do this, YSC must tend to overdue roof repairs, establish a reserve fund, and close the gap in our capital campaign. This is a critical investment point to address growing demand, rising operational costs, and increasing accessibility needs for the next generation of performers.
