Our work
Established in 1988, the Centre for Newcomers Society of Calgary (CFN) is a registered charity dedicated to supporting immigrants and refugees in their settlement and integration. Each year, CFN serves more than 35,000 newcomers through a comprehensive suite of accessible, cost-free programs and services designed to promote full participation, cultural diversity, community engagement, and citizenship.
CFN offers integrated supports including Settlement and Integration Services, Career and Employment Services, Language Training, Ethnicity Catering work experience opportunities, Volunteer Development, Mental Health Workshops and Referral Assistance, and other community-based initiatives. Services are designed to address the complex and evolving needs of newcomers, recognizing the social, economic, and cultural barriers that can affect successful integration.
CFN’s mandate extends beyond individual support. The organization works equally with the broader Calgary community to foster inclusion and belonging. CFN views integration as a two-way process of shared experience, influence, and impact between newcomers and the communities that welcome them. Through collaboration with partners across sectors, CFN strengthens community capacity while helping newcomers build stable, connected lives.
CFN’s mission is to support newcomers and the receiving community in becoming diverse and united by creating conditions that enable success and promote a welcoming environment in Calgary. Guided by values of equality, respect, collaboration, communication, professionalism, caring, diversity, and inclusion, CFN strives to deliver services that are culturally responsive, accessible, and equity-informed.
CFN’s vision is a community that values diversity, where individuals of all backgrounds find opportunities to fulfill their aspirations and participate fully as engaged citizens. Through its programs and partnerships, CFN strengthens individual and family capacity, builds community connections, and contributes to a more inclusive and resilient Calgary.
