Equity Deserving Community Led

The Cathedral Church of the Redeemer is both a historical building and an active worshipping community that seeks to be “A Place for the Soul in the Heart of the City” through worship, the arts, and attending to the needs of who live on the margins. We host traditionally-shaped worship familiar to the worldwide Anglican communion, providing a worshipping home to many immigrant and refugee newcomers. We also challenge our parishioners of all ages and backgrounds to think progressively about the social issues of our city and its place in our world. We are an equity-deserving community-led organization which aims to serve those marginalized by social structures, and seek to be increasingly governed by a racially- and economically-diverse board and senior leadership. We are currently seeking funding partners that will help us achieve our linked goals of preserving the cultural asset of our municipally- and provincially-registered Historic Place, and reaching out in service to our racially- and economically-diverse inner-city community. Current projects include 1) applying for funding to hire a consultant (J5 Design) to help evaluate the greatest social needs in the downtown core for our leadership and volunteers to address, and 2) applying for funding to replace the protective coverings over our historic stained glass windows damaged by recent acts of vandalism.
