Immigrant Outreach Society (IOS) is a community-based organization that provides support to ethnic minorities from East Africa. Our mission is to support East African families, women, youth, and seniors by providing multiculturally sensitive, language-appropriate psychosocial, and trauma-informed mental health programs, domestic violence interventions, and anti-racism programming policy-influencing initiatives. Our vision is to create a vibrant community that addresses the issue of racism and immigrant mental health and domestic violence access.
Our project works towards filling this gap by providing culturally appropriate and linguistically specific mental health interventions for immigrants and ethnic monitories for East African refugees. We aim to provide crisis counselling, individual counselling, group counselling, training and workshops for community-serving agencies and services, community leaders, and community outreach. We want to provide mental health services that can not wait for disadvantaged and marginalized ethnic minorities from East Africa.
